It is with sadness we have had to say good-bye to long time members of VCF Fred and Gwen Dirks.  Fred’s new job has moved him and Gwen to Edmonton. Fred has tremendously blessed us for many years with his God given gift on the keyboard.  Gwen the lover of babies has served graciously in our nursery. But much more than these areas of service they will be greatly missed for who they are! They display much joy and grace!  May God bless their life in Edmonton, we know they will be much appreciated and loved there as they have here. They will be missed!

Sunday July 29^th we celebrated Harold and Joan’s 60^th anniversary. They were married when Harold was 22 and Joan just 16! What a lovely couple they are and a wonderful testimony of the goodness of God.  Harold massages Joan’s feet for an hour every night! No wonder Joan loves him so much!

We had a super time at our outdoor church service and BBQ held at Faith Mission Retreat Centre in Falkland. About 100 people were in attendance. Brian Garvin and team blessed us by leading worship. There is something about singing songs of worship outdoors in the middle of creation. Ray Bale shared the message from Jeremiah 29 “For I know the plans I have for you….” It was very encouraging, particularly to those whose future is a little uncertain. Next came the food, yum yum! Special thanks to our three executive chefs Matt Brunelle, Bill Tidsbury & Jerry Lee. They withstood the heat and did a fine job of flipping burgers. We had a large assortment of delicious salads, dessert was good too. Great food, great fun, great fellowship, what more could we ask for? Recently I had a young friend from the community drop by to see me. She cried as she shared how difficult her marriage is and how she feels a complete lack of love from her husband. I spoke how important it is at times like this to have a greater revelation of God’s love so that he can fill every gap and validate her as a beautiful woman dearly loved by the Father. Just then the office door opened and in walked Jean Ziprick, Sherry Dyck and little Eden. Jean said, “We were just driving by so we stopped in to tell you something Eden just said. She said, ‘I wonder what Jesus will do when he sees us in heaven? I know’, she said. ‘He is going to kiss us!’ You know?” Jean continued “It is so incredible how much God loves us! He just loves us SO much that I think Eden is right. He would just come to us and kiss us. That’s all I stopped in for, just to tell you that.”

I knew this was a God moment. So I asked both Jean and my friend if they would be comfortable praying about this. Jean went behind where my friend sat and held her tight and prayed that she would receive the revelation of God’s love. Jean kissed my friend while tears streamed down her face. My friend left soon after full of joy; her cup filled and overflowing with the incredible love of our Lord and Saviour.

I have been friends with Lynnaya from the Morning Star since I started working here 11 years ago. I email her regularly to let her know who is on the preaching schedule for the newspaper. We always include sweet little notes to each other. The odd thing though is that we had never met in person. Three years ago I stopped by at her office to bring her some Purdys, but I missed her by 10 minutes! We have seen pictures of each other and have spoken on the phone a few times, but that’s it. BUT all that has changed! Recently she stopped in at the office. This was so exciting for us, we were able to give each other BIG hugs!  I emailed her if I could write about this, she wrote back, “I think that’s an AWESOME idea!!!!!!!! It is a great story…. :)))))))”  Lynnaya has been a real blessing, I am thankful to have her as a friend.
